A Fool in Love

How can you believe in something that you cannot see?
There is no higher power, only destiny.
How can you trust in someone who is never truly there?
There is no divine love, you have to earn love and care.
How can you have faith when what you need is proof?
There is no faith required, for the world has its own truth.

You don’t need anyone, you can make it on your own.
You don’t need a god, you can do it alone.
Only lies come from church, spoken by pastors and fools!
They only seek to use you and make you their tools!
Blasphemy they spew forth! Who needs a god!?
No one can part a sea with just a prayer and a rod!

They say this God loves you, that he is fair and just.
Yet, it is wrong to feel natural emotions, such as anger and lust.
Who needs such rules? Just do whatever feels good.
Give in to all your desires… any normal person would.
Having fun while you’re young, pleasure should be your goal!
You have many years, even decades, to worry about your soul.

Trust in me completely, I would never steer you wrong.
I’ll take care of you always, I’ll keep you smart and strong.
Don’t worry, I’ve got you and I’ll never let you go.
You are mine now forever, to manipulate and control.
I am Satan’s right hand, the master of misconception.
I call myself Truth, but my true name is Deception.

Believe in me, trust in me, embrace my ever word.
I’ll tell you what is truth and lies from all that you’ve heard.
I’ve got you now completely, to do with what I will.
And what a fool that Jesus Christ is, loving you still.

  1. Great job, Taleana! It’s astounding how easily we can be deceived, even believers. Whenever I find myself attracted to the “fun stuff” Satan offers in this world, it’s a struggle to remind myself how much better is the way of Jesus. I pray your poem will reach millions or billions, as we all need to hear it, several times.

    1. I, too, pray it reaches many. Thanks for reading!

  2. The first time I read this it gave me an overwhelming wave of God loving chills… Excellent way to express how much higher Gods thoughts and ways are than ours, without Him. I’m incredibly proud you got it into just the right words,,, You are a blessing!

Thank you ^_^ I actually wrote this one day while at church and God definitely wrote this trough me. I went to church with my family, but for some reason I didn’t want to go in. I had a tiny war of wills with my mom^, but I stayed in the car. I sat in the car for about 15 – 20 minutes before I overwhelmingly felt like writing and this poem just flowed out like water. Any poem writer knows how all over the place your writings can get, notes on the corner of the page, crossing out some lines in favor or writing in something better, alternate versions or lines written on the side, but there was none of that. Line by line, it just came out perfectly and I was finished by the time church was over. It was one of those God connected moments in life you never forget. For this reason, this is one of my favorite poems.
