I believe that in one way or another we are all a “hot mess.”  Maybe our car breaks down on the way to work or we accidentally spill coffee on ourselves or perhaps the spouse and kids are constantly pulling at our attention. It’s moments like these that make us want to stay in bed and pull the covers over our head, thinking, “I don’t want to adult today.” Or what’s even worse is that we are constantly in an overwhelmed state where we just have to ‘get through today’ with an extensive list of ‘to-do’s and not enough time in the day to do them. We live in a fast-paced world where everything is vying for our attention. Social media, family, co-workers, friends, the list goes on and on, and if we’re not careful, we could spend years just surviving on our ‘to-do’ list. The next thing you know, we’ve lost track of what is important to ourselves and what we want to achieve in this life we have.

That’s where “UnHot The Mess You Are” came into picture. The purpose of this self-help book is to aid you in getting off the hamster wheel of life and refocusing on what is important to you. To help you realign with what you desire and take the necessary steps to move yourself forward. This book is also a starting point for anyone who has no knowledge or experience in personal development. It goes over 5 basic principles that, when understood and implemented, can lead to a shift in one’s mindset and growth.

This book goes hand-in-hand with my business of coaching people. At one point, a coach was always associated with, “Oh, what sport do you coach?” In this millennial age, personal coaches are seen rising outside of the sports arena and more into the personal development arena. Today, there are coaches for specific types of needs. For example, a business coach, a health coach, an executive coach, a relationship coach, and so forth. In my specific coaching business, I help entrepreneurs break out of the self-help cycle and guide them in achieving their most desired results without feeling overwhelmed and frustrated. We do this through a step-by-step system proven and designed to aid the entrepreneur in achieving what they most want out of life.

As a former ER nurse and U.S. Navy Vet, helping people has always been at the core of my values. I believe that each of us have unique gifts and talents that we are put on this Earth to do. I realized that helping people is God’s way of sharing love, and in this business, I am sharing love to those that I coach. In my unique way, my gift of helping people is what I feel I am on this Earth to do. It is through my faith that I continually stay close to Him so that he can guide me to serve His children.

I do want to leave you with a tip or two that you can implement today so that you can shift from a ‘hot mess’ to someone who is on their way to regaining control of their lives.

  1. Express gratitude. If you want to take it a step further, start a gratitude journal and jot down 3-5 things you’re most grateful for right before you go to bed.
  2. Be on guard of your thoughts. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Stand guard at the portal of your mind.” Be aware of the thoughts you are having. Are they positive or negative? Are you uplifting yourself or being self-destructive? Start to notice your thoughts and replace the negative with the positive.
